ZUTA GBG120 — 120W four-channel tube head

A 120-watt, all-analogue, four-channel tube head in a 19-inch rack only 7.8 inches deep. Ataraxis Music is an authorized ZUTA dealer and stocks the Limited Edition run in several tube complements — each one a numbered amp, not a catalogue entry.

What the GBG120 is

ZUTA built the GBG120 around the sound that came out of Gothenburg, Sweden in the late 1980s and 1990s — tight, articulate high gain that never loses the note. It is entirely analogue: no modelling, no digital preamp stage, no menu diving.

Four channels, each with its own gain, volume and equalisation, plus console-style mode switches lit in different colours so you can see the state of the amp on a dark stage. Four separate pre-amp topologies work together inside it, which is how it keeps a genuinely clean channel without giving up the extreme gain at the other end.

Why the tube complement matters

The power section takes KT88, KT77, KT66, 6550, 6L6, 6CA7 and EL34 tubes in combination, and that choice changes the amp more than any control on the front panel. EL34s push midrange and break up earlier. 6L6s stay cleaner and firmer in the low end. KT77s hold together harder under gain. KT66s are warmer and rounder.

Because we stock several of these side by side, we can tell you how they differ in the same room, through the same cabinet — not from a spec sheet. Call and ask; that comparison is the reason to buy from a dealer who has more than one.

Buying from Ataraxis

We are an authorized ZUTA dealer in the United States, so every amp carries its full manufacturer warranty. Each one is checked on our bench before it ships, shipping is free and fully insured, and you can call and speak to Rodney about which one suits what you play.
